3 mechanical worlds, 3 moods
A vintage car, motorcycle and airplane don’t tell the same story on a wall. The convertible evokes the open road and vacations, the motorcycle the workshop and speed, the airplane exploration and wide horizons.
Car posters: the open road and convertibles
Brunelia’s car posters collection revolves mostly around 1950s and 1960s-style convertibles and a few classics like the Citroën 2CV. The mood stays focused on the road and bright colors.
Motorcycle posters: workshop and speed
Motorcycle posters play on 2 registers: the retro Art Deco workshop, with a mechanic and an engine hanging from a hoist, and the motorcycle in motion, sidecar or solo.
Airplane posters: exploration and wide horizons
Biplanes, three-engine and four-engine planes: airplane posters borrow the look of 1930s to 1950s aviation, often in Art Deco style, built around the idea of exploration and horizons waiting to be crossed.
Where to hang these posters
A garage or workshop is a natural home for a car or motorcycle poster. An office suits an airplane poster or a more graphic motorcycle poster. The A3 size works on most walls; for a clear wall, a larger size like A2 or A1 holds up better from a distance.
Cars: Cuba and garage ads
Beyond the road and convertibles described above, 2 posters change the scenery: the mint-green convertible poster on the Malecón and the vintage car poster in front of the Capitol show a 1950s American car in the colorful setting of Havana, a destination in its own right rather than a simple road scene.
The pin-up poster with a wink and a red gas pump shifts the register: a pin-up in a yellow dress poses against the pump, next to a blue convertible and a stack of tires, in the spirit of garage ads rather than the open road.
Motorcycles: in a group or in the mountains
The 3 custom bikers poster shows a small group riding along a canyon road with pink cliffs, a group scene that stands apart from the solo rider or sidecar described above. The Stelvio Pass poster changes the setting with its switchbacks beneath snowy peaks and a biker in red climbing the pass, watched by a hiker.
Airplanes: humor and wartime memory
The poster of a cat pilot in a baguette-shaped airplane above the rooftops of Paris completely changes the tone with a humorous illustration, the opposite of the serious exploration register described above. The “Dusk Patrol” poster, a four-engine bomber at sunset, evokes instead the military aviation of World War II, another chapter of aviation history beyond the exploration and airlines already mentioned.
Designing a wall with 3 worlds
To vary the moods without losing coherence, a mechanical-themed wall can mix a travel scene (Cuba), a group scene (the 3 bikers) and a touch of humor (the cat pilot), in a uniform size like A3.
