Boho style thrives on the dialogue between terracotta, plants and posters
Boho style rests on 3 visual pillars: the terracotta color (or warm brick), abundant indoor greenery, and the storytelling poster that completes the picture. Poorly proportioned, one swallows the other 2. Here are 4 tried-and-true combinations.
1. Marrakech poster + Monstera
A poster of Marrakech’s pink quarter, a large Monstera in a cylindrical terracotta pot, and an off-white wall behind. The visual triangle works immediately. The greenery plays off the ochres of the poster.
2. Tropical poster + Strelitzia
A tropical jungle poster, a Strelitzia (bird of paradise) in a woven ochre planter, for a warm sunroom feel. Ideal in a reading nook or on a living room wall.
3. Desert poster + Euphorbia
A poster of the Moroccan desert or a Berber landscape, with a large succulent in a raw pot. A modern caravanserai effect.
4. Travel poster + trailing plants
A poster of Bali, Mexico City, or southern Spain, plus 2 trailing plants (pothos, philodendron) placed up high. This cascade of greenery around the boho poster finishes the composition.
Size and placement
Choose horizontal A2 posters for these compositions, as a vertical size risks being crowded out by upright plants. Hang the poster at standing eye level, with plants on each side.

The boho poster, terracotta and potted plants
Authentic boho style rests on 3 visible pillars: terracotta, potted plants, travel posters. The combo defines the style in 5 minutes. Here is how to put together a boho decor centered on these 3 coordinated elements.
Terracotta in boho style
Terracotta pots (never plastic), terracotta Berber rugs, terracotta-dyed linen cushions, scented candles. The color shapes the whole style.
Potted plants
Monstera deliciosa, indoor palm, columnar cacti, pothos, ficus elastica. XXL plants in terracotta pots. Avoid plastic plants.
Posters that complete the look
Marrakech, Algeria, India, desert landscapes, mosaics. A2 or A1 size above a low sofa. See our Morocco collection.
Materials and furniture
Berber rug layered over a kilim, patinated wood coffee table, rattan armchairs, beeswax candles. Furniture ideally found at flea markets.
Coordinated colors
Terracotta, ochre, rust, brown, olive green, off-white. 4 to 6 colors live together.
Pitfalls to avoid
Plastic pots. Artificial plants. Rugs that look too new (Ikea SoftAfrica). Modern photographic posters with no patina.
